Uriah Wallace is proud to carry on for Chuck Eaton and Eaton Auction Service, who have built a reputation for integrity and results on both sides of the auction block for the last 25 years.
We handle a wide range of objects -- from real estate to entire households to individual items - with an emphasis on antiques and collectibles. We conduct periodic specialty auctions including our Annual Fall Firearms and Sporting sale, and others as the opportunity arises. Over the years, we've sold large collections of everything from milk bottles to vintage outboard motors!
Selling at Auction is a live, open-market competition that helps objects achieve their true, fair market value. Typically, we sell on “consignment” - retaining a percentage of the selling price - but occasionally buy outright. When items are consigned, you receive a copy of a Consignment Contract that lists your property and specifies the sales commission and any other expenses. Your property is insured from the moment it leaves your hands. We hold general and specialty sales throughout the year, and will place your items in the auction where we think it will sell best. After the auction (usually within 30 days) you will receive payment and an itemized list of your items sold.

On-site Estate Auctions create unique energy and excitement in the marketplace - often propelling objects to higher values. Auction is also a highly efficient means of settling an Estate. Prior to the sale, our staff works closely with the family and/or executor to identify and sort the household contents. Don't throw anything away beforehand - folks are often amazed by what has become “collectible”. As we work, our staff is sensitive to setting aside personal papers, photographs and other items that should remain with the family. Eaton Auction Service makes all arrangements for tents, parking, and other amenities needed for the auction. As with consignment sales, the commission and any additional expenses or terms are negotiated and defined in a contract prior to the sale.
Selling Real Estate at Auction can be advantageous for the right piece of property. Chuck Eaton, who is a former realtor, will contiune to work for Uriah Wallace Auction Service offering his considerable knowledge and experience in helping potential sellers explore this option. Both he and Uriah are very capable of showing the property and talking with potential buyers. The process is easier and less risky than most people realize. The seller sets a minimum price based on a recent appraisal, and bidders must be preapproved for financing and show proof of deposit. Our commission is competitive with real estate agents.
Research and marketing are critical components of successful auction results. We usually can rely on our many years of experience to identify and describe objects, but we love solving the occasional “mystery” with the help of our research library, a network of trusted experts, and the internet. Over the years we have built a following of regular auction-goers and an extensive mail and e-mail list of specialty dealers and collectors. We advertise in regional papers, as well as the auction trade's largest weekly and through our Web site, to expose unique items to interested buyers across the country.
